How do you calculate Overall Drawdown?

You can have an overall maximum loss limit of 10% of your initial account balance. Thus, your account balance or equity can’t go below 90% of the initial balance at any time during your whole trading journey. It implies that your account balance or equity should always be over 90% of the initial balance to avoid rule violations.

For example, for a 100k account, your maximum loss limit is $10k.So, as long as your balance/equity (whichever is lower) is over 90k, you will not violate the overall drawdown.

Do note that overall drawdown does not get reset like daily drawdown.

How do you calculate Daily Drawdown?

The daily drawdown is 5% of your account balance at the starting of the trading day (broker server time).

For example, if you have a $100,000 account, the maximum daily loss limit is $5,000, and you are not allowed to lose more than $5,000 in the first day. Suppose you have lost a total of $3000 in your closed trades. In such a case, you cannot lose more than $2000, including floating losses. Note that swap and commission rates are included in this calculation. It will be considered a violation if you lose more than $2,000.

Similarly, let’s say you gained $8,000 in profit on that $100,000 account and now you have $108,000.  In such case, you will be allowed to lose $5,400 in the next trading day before triggering the DBDD violation.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your daily loss limit will be reset at midnight according to the server time.

In order to see easily how much you can lose in a single day, all you have to do is to login to your member area dashboard and look under the chart at the value “Today permitted loss”.  All you have to do is keep under that amount and you will be fine.

Can I open/close a position during the news in Evaluation model?

Elites Funding allows traders to trade during news events in both demo and real phases of Evalaution package. While this can be an opportunity to take advantage of market movement, it is important to exercise caution during such times. Due to the impact of news, the market may move very quickly, making it difficult to get fills at desired prices. This can result in slippage, which can be particularly problematic for traders using high lot sizes or relying on market depth.

Furthermore, due to the lack of liquidity during news events, it is possible for traders to face significant losses if they do not manage their risk effectively. It is important to note that traders are ultimately responsible for complying with drawdown rules and avoiding violations.

To minimize the risks involved in news trading, we advise traders to use their best judgement and take appropriate measures to manage risk. This may include using reasonable lot sizes, avoiding trading with all their available margin, and refraining from news straddling. All in all, while news trading can be profitable, it is crucial for traders to understand and manage the potential risks involved to achieve long-term success.
